The Family Tree

One tree outlives the mighty oak
Because it’s made of special folk,
Through generations changing form,
Providing shelter from life’s storm.

Our parents’ parents and before
Who may have lived on distant shores,
They root our lives in memories;
We’re nourished by their histories.

A sturdy trunk that lends support
And gives us care of every sort –
The fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts,
Who nurture us like tender plants.

The children, branching toward the sky,
Have brand-new dreams and deeds to try,
And babies, buds that seem so small,
Will flower so the tree grows tall.

Family Ties

Family ties are precious bonds
That passing time endears,
For they begin with memories
Of our happy childhood years –

Family ties are growing bonds
Nourished by love and laughter
And a thousand everyday events
That are cherished ever after –

Family ties are lasting bonds
That are woven in each heart
To keep a family close in thought
Together or apart!

Genealogy

They all wanna know why I did what I did,
But I do what comes natcherly...
I’m just a kid.
You’re also just a tiny twig on the family tree,

And he’s a little bit of you..
and a little bit of me,
A little bit of he,
And a little bit of she,

Put ‘em together and shake ‘em up good..
And out of it all comes me!
Like a roll of the dice or a flip of a coin,
It’s called genealogy!
